The last week in Iceland has utterly turned my world upside-down.
In the space of a few days, I got to know this tiny little country and fall in love with it as if it were my own. I was snowed on for the first time, I wandered through graveyards, I got tattooed, I listened to the tick-tock melody…

;_____;
I’ve spent a few days here in Reyjavik now, spending hours exploring the little nooks and crannies it has to offer.
I can say, honestly, that this has to be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen; I know that may be weak coming from someone just starting her journey - but it’s true. The graffiti, the coloured buildings, the mountains overlooking the city; there’s kind of this innate intangible cool-ness to this place that I can’t quite describe.
My hosts Magnus and Einar have been wonderful too. We’ve been out for Thai, burgers, and they took me to an amazing hostel that if it were in Melbourne it’d be full to the brim with barely legals in their cut-offs. We also went for the biggest goddamned ice-cream I’ve ever fit my mouth around (secretly, I think Maggi was impressed I finished it all… he clearly doesn’t know me yet).
So far I’ve been really thankful for Skype to keep in contact with people. Travelling alone can be quite isolating (the 8+ hours I spend exploring while Maggi and Einar are at work have proven this) so it’s nice that when I get back into bed I can talk to loved ones as they get ready for their day.
Hopefully tomorrow I’m going on the Golden Circle tour, to see some of the natural wonders of Iceland - that is, hoping I got my booking in on time - and then, on Tuesday I’m getting my tattoo. Everything is just fine.
Oh man, oh man, oh man, these guys are amazing, oh man! Oh man! Like Icelandic Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. Oh man! Aw jeez!
